Mike had two killer riffs that he was playing around with. Scott said: "Put 'em together! The first one is the intro, the second one can be for the verses, and then we'll do the first one again as an outro." Lyrically the song deals with how we often try to run away from the "beast" that is our problems, only to find that the beast is US. Hence, "Unleash The Beast" is less about running AWAY, and speaks more to the idea that we recognize how the beast within us tries to keep us from realizing our dreams.
